Frequently Asked Questions

Is it really free?

Yes our service really is completely free with no hidden charges of any kind!

How can you do this for free?

We recoup our running costs by recycling as much of each car or van as we possibly can. Many of these recycled parts, including the catalytic converter from newer vehicles and the steel (more of which is found in older vehicles) have value which means that depending on the current prices of such commodities we can make a modest profit.

I want my car scrapped quickly can you do this?

Almost certainly. As a nationwide company we have many drivers and so can usually pick up a car the next day and sometimes even the same day!

I'm not going to be home for most of the day can you still help?

Yes! Because of our extensive network of drivers we can usually offer collection times to suit you. Also our drivers pick up cars at all times of the day, not just 9 to 5.

Can you tow away my scrap car at the weekend?

Yes, the vast majority of our drivers are happy to pick up cars at the weekend.

I don't have the logbook (V5C) can I still get my car scrapped?

Yes. There is some extra paper work involved though, and you'll need to inform the DVLA in writing that the vehicle is being scrapped. Our drivers will be able to talk you through this process, but please let us know in advance if you are missing the logbook so that we can account for the extra time required. Having the logbook does same a considerable amount of time so we advise that you have a good look for it even if you have already booked it in with us to be scrapped.

How much of my vehicled is recycled?

As much as possible! Our skilled technicians will strip your car of anything that can be recycled. The parts that can be recycled depends on the vehicle in question, for example the catalytic converters on newer vehicles and the steel in older vehicles (newer cars tend to use lots of carbon fibre in place of steel).

Our technicians will also remove any petrol left in the tank of the vehicle for safety reasons and to avoid pollution.

I heard it's possible to claim back unused road tax, is this true?

It is indeed true. Just pick up a v14 form at you local post office or take a look on the DVLA website.

Should I write to the DVLA to tell them the vehicle is no longer mine?

There's no harm in doing so but this is unnecessary provided you can supply us with the logbook (V5C).
